International Snow Leopard Day 2017 – 23rd October 2017
Join us on the 23rd to celebrate International Snow Leopard Day. The day is to raise awareness for the plight of such an iconic species. The day marks the anniversary of the signing of the landmark Bishkek Declaration on the conservation of snow leopards, signed on October 23rd 2013.
Our snow leopards really are our flagship species, we like them so much they’re even part of our logo! Despite the IUCN recently downgrading them from endangered to vulnerable they are still very much in need of protection. Wild numbers are exactly known due to living in such a harsh and difficult to work in environment but it is estimated that there are less than 10,000 adult snow leopards in the wild.
There will be range of activities on through the day including a very special snow leopard talk and feed. We will be raising funds during the day of which all will go to The Snow Leopard Trust, a fantastic snow leopard conservation project.
Boo At The Zoo – 24th – 31st October
