Here at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis we’re involved in a range of conservation projects, including fundraising for in situ projects in the wild and participating in ex situ projects managing captive ‘ark’ populations. All of the money you spend with us goes straight back into looking after the animals at the zoo and supporting the conservation work we’re involved with.

Many of the endangered species at the zoo are part of European and international breeding programmes, and we work with other zoos across Europe to manage these animals and ensure that there are healthy captive populations of endangered species for years to come.

We’re also involved in several committees in the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA), and we help to manage a national collection plan which looks for native invertebrates in need of a bit of help from zoos.
