Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is now running a new and exciting Junior Keeper Academy course, giving children from the ages of 8-16 a ‘hands on’ insight into day-to-day life at the zoo. The course is an ideal opportunity for those that dream of pursuing an animal-based career in the future, from zoo keeping all the way to veterinarian work! The course will involve a combination of academic and practical elements helping us to care for some of our amazing animals. Expert tuition will be provided by our dedicated keepers, covering a range of topics relevant to exotic animal keeping.

The zoo operates under the admisnistration of The Lakeland Trust for Natural Sciences, a registered charity, whose main ethos is education. So many children that visit us tell us that they want to grow up to be zookeepers, we thought why not stretch our education mission to include training up the next generation of zookeepers?! The animal management sector is a very competitive industry; a demonstrable interest and practical experience in animal care can prove invaluable. All graduates of the course will receive a certificate upon completion, verifying their accomplishment, as well as a portfolio.

The course will run every Saturday afternoon, 1pm-4pm from 08/11/2014 to 13/12/2014. The full course is just £76 per child, which includes free zoo entry for 1 adult each week during tuition time. To ensure a more personal experience, which your child can treasure for years to come, places are limited to 12 children per programme. Please contact us on 015395 63027 or email us at mail@wildlifeoasis.co.uk for more information, or to book your place. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis. Discounts will be offered for multiple children booking from the same family.
