Your Zoo Needs You
Sunday, March 29th 2020
The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is currently closed to the public, following the advice of Public Health England to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The welfare of our staff, animals and local community remains our top priority.
Over the coming days we will be in touch with all annual pass holders and visitors who have pre-booked an animal experience. All annual passes have been frozen from 21st March to the date of reopening.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis relies entirely on donations and admission sales to function. The zoo has contingency funds but with our doors closed, these could soon get eaten up - quite literally! With hundreds of mouths to feed here, it is critical that we secure funding during our lockdown period.
Despite operating the site for nearly three decades, zoo Director Jo Marsden has never faced a challenge quite like this. “Our highest priority is always our animals’ welfare, and our dedicated staff will never compromise, but for food, heat, and veterinary care we need to ensure funding. We know we have the most amazing visitors and supporters, so we are calling on anyone who can help make a donation. Nothing is too small- every penny really does help.”
We’re calling on supporters and visitors to help us raise £10,000 via our ‘GoFundMe’ page – which after just five days has reached 50% of its target! This money will help us ensure that our animals continue to have the highest standards of care while we are closed.
Any individuals or local businesses who can make a donation or help fundraise, go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/safeguardoasis or contact the zoo directly on mail@wildlifeoasis.co.uk. See the ‘Lakeland Wildlife Oasis’ on Facebook to keep updated with the latest news.
